Carley Kavanaugh is a litigation attorney who brings years of courtroom experience representing children and adults in complex criminal and child protective matters. Before joining Stinar Lannen, Carley managed a high-volume practice spanning delinquency proceedings, state felony matters, and child protective cases — appearing in more than 1,000 hearings annually while developing effective litigation strategies, negotiating favorable outcomes, and building trusted relationships with clients and families. She has served as Lawyer Guardian Ad Litem in child protective proceedings, collaborated with service providers and court personnel to protect children’s best interests, and managed state felony cases through all stages of district and circuit court proceedings.
At Stinar Lannen, Carley is a member of the Firm’s Mass Tort and Institutional Abuse practices, with a focus on toxic exposure litigation and institutional accountability. She works on the Firm’s toxic tort and environmental docket, where the team combines scientific literacy with litigation muscle to hold the largest corporate defendants accountable for harm caused by dangerous substances — including the Firm’s chlorpyrifos litigation against major agrochemical companies on behalf of families and farmworkers harmed by decades of neurotoxin exposure.
Carley also plays a central role in the Firm’s California institutional-abuse campaigns. She contributes to the California women’s detention abuse cases, part of the coordinated proceedings in JCCP 5276, where the Firm represents more than 2,000 women sexually abused while in the custody of California correctional facilities by guards, deputies, and staff who used their custodial authority to assault and harass incarcerated women while institutions ignored their complaints. She also supports the Firm’s California juvenile detention abuse cases, in which Stinar Lannen represents thousands of survivors of childhood sexual abuse in the state’s county juvenile halls, probation camps, and youth detention facilities — minors who were abused while in custody over a period of decades amid systemic failures by the institutions responsible for their care.
