In an era of ubiquitous data collection, consumers have become involuntary participants in an economy built on their personal information. Financial institutions, healthcare providers, employers, retailers, and government agencies collect, store, and share sensitive data—including Social Security numbers, medical records, financial accounts, and family relationships—often with inadequate security protections. When those systems fail or when companies unlawfully sell or share personal information, the consequences for individuals can be severe: identity theft, financial fraud, medical identity theft, and lasting harm to credit and reputation.

Stinar Lannen represents individuals and classes of consumers harmed by data breaches, unauthorized data sharing, and violations of privacy laws. We hold corporations accountable for failing to implement reasonable security measures, for ignoring known vulnerabilities, and for prioritizing convenience and profit over the protection of sensitive consumer data.

Data Breach Litigation — We represent individuals and classes of consumers whose personal information was exposed through cyberattacks, ransomware incidents, or corporate negligence. We pursue claims against companies that failed to implement reasonable security measures, delayed notification to affected individuals, or otherwise violated their duties to protect consumer data.

Unauthorized Data Sharing — Consumers have the right to control how their personal information is collected, used, and shared. We bring claims against companies and data brokers that sell or share personal information without consent, in violation of state and federal privacy laws.

Consumer Privacy Class Actions — When data breaches or privacy violations affect large numbers of consumers, class action litigation provides an efficient mechanism for holding wrongdoers accountable and obtaining meaningful relief. Stinar Lannen has served as lead and co-lead counsel in major privacy class actions, recovering substantial compensation for affected consumers and driving improvements in corporate data security practices.
